This dynamic pose was first captured on Lady Elliot Island in the Great Barrier Reef whilst snorkelling in shallow waters. It portrays a moment in time, where the turtle looks down on the reef to decide which bit of coral to munch on. It’s highly unique and reflects the slow and thoughtful nature of the green sea turtle
Using one colour only the acrylic paint is applied in a way that mostly resembles watercolour. The painting is built up with layers to create depth and show the detail - particularly in the turtles lizard like skin. Careful application and precision make this a one off piece created with no second chances. Indigo is a strongly pigmented paint that once applied is difficult to paint over, and as such this piece is created with no room for error.
As a large artwork this piece will make a striking statement on the wall.
